Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is regarded as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world; while Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia being the largest existing temple.

Srirangam Temple, also known as the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple or Thiruvaranga Tirupati, is considered the first and foremost of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is located in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu and is one of the eight self-manifested shrines (Swayamvyaktha kshetram) of the deity.
Srirangam Divyakshetram is also called as Bhooloka Vaikundam. Here Lord Ranganathaswamy is reclining position (Sayana kolam) facing South. The South Rajagopuram is the tallest tower of 236 feet height with 13 tiers. The sanctum of Lord Ranganathaswamy is surrounded by seven prakarams.

The temple features 21 grand and towering structures and is situated on an islet created by the confluence of the Cauvery and Coleroon rivers.
Festivals
The primary festival occurs during Vaikunta Ekadashi, the 11th day of the Margazhi month, typically in December or January, drawing over a million devotees. The festivities last for 21 days, filled with vibrant celebrations, including singing, dancing, theatrical performances, and poetry recitals. This period is considered the ideal time to visit Srirangam.
On Ekadashi, following an elaborate procession, the deity is enshrined in the 1000-pillared hall. It is believed that those who behold it will achieve heavenly bliss after death. The temple transforms into Bhooloka Vaikunta, or Heaven on Earth, on this auspicious day, attracting the entire pantheon of Hindu deities to witness the event. Other significant festivals include Jyestabisheka, Brahmotsavam, and the annual Rathothsavam. While deeply rooted in religious importance, Srirangam is also celebrated for its stunning architectural beauty.
